Interior Health is notifying the public of a case of COVID-19 at the Save-On-Foods pharmacy at the Columbia Place Shopping Centre in Sahali.
People who were in the pharmacy on March 10, 13, 14 or between March 16 to 21 have to self-isolate and monitor their symptoms for 14 days after their visit.
IH spokesperson Susan Duncan says the case is an employee at Save-On, saying that person is “doing well” and is recovering at home.
“As long as customers of the pharmacy remain healthy and do not develop symptoms, they can return to their routine activities 14 days after the date of their visit,” said a statement from Interior Health.
“If customers develop respiratory symptoms they need to self-isolate at home for a minimum of 10 days from the time their symptoms develop and until symptoms resolve.”
Since the case was identified, the pharmacy has taken measures including screening staff daily for symptoms, enhanced cleaning, floor stickers to ensure physical distancing, and extra supplies of personal protective equipment for staff.
“The pharmacy has also ordered Plexiglas barriers for installation,” noted the IHA Statement. “Save-On-Foods has also undertaken enhanced cleaning throughout the store. Save-On-Foods and the pharmacy remain open.”
IHA says people who only develop mild symptoms do not need to be tested. However, if your symptoms worsen, you’re asked to call 811 or your health-care provider.
Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, while milder symptoms may include a runny nose, fatigue, body aches, diarrhea, headache, sore throat, vomiting, and red eyes.
Earlier on Thursday, the BC CDC said that a passenger on a WestJet flight from Calgary to Kamloops on Saturday has tested positive for COVID-19.
