Every year Community Inclusion Month is celebrated in British Columbia in October. This year join us in starting the celebration with the very fun and popular Amazing Race to Inclusion.

As part of Community Inclusion Month, in addition to raising funds for the Speaking Up Self Advocacy awareness group - a registered Society of self-advocates with diverse abilities - we are raising awareness about the barriers to inclusion that exist for many individuals living in Kamloops. On September 29, 2022 we will do this by hosting our second “An Amazing Race to Inclusion”, a fun and challenging event that will have participants traveling throughout Kamloops, getting firsthand experience with some of the challenges that come with having different disabilities. It is sure to give participants a better understanding of the daily experiences of many people living with diverse abilities.

Ultimately, we hope each race participant will take this understanding back to their work places and the community, creating opportunities for change.

We have space for 10 teams of four, so get your pals together and enter right away!

Some of the race challenges:

• Using a wheelchair
• Navigating an obstacle course using vision goggles to simulate visual impairments
• Traveling on the city bus
• Working as a team to solve different tasks
• Navigating the city and trying to complete the greatest number of challenges
